Lei Qiang was born in Shaanxi Province in The People’s Republic of China and studied at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music for four years under professor Zhang Huai De. Between 1982-1993 Lei performed with the Shaanxi Provincial Song and Dance Troupe, continuing his studies under Yu Feng Yang and Guan Min. Lei Qiang came to Montreal in 1993 and performed with several local artists such as Robert Charlebois and Bruno Pelletier. Since October 2000, Lei Qiang performs nightly in Las Vegas with le Cirque du Soleil on a show called “O”.
